Woodford Players presented a studio production of Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads Monologues with a hot served two course supper and glass of fizz on arrival on Friday June 22nd and Saturday June 23rd 2012 7.00pm at The Woodford Centre, Chester Road, Woodford. SK7 1PS

A Chip in the Sugar – played by Ian M Butterfield and directed by Sue Mooney
Mild mannered, middle-aged Graham Whittaker finds life becoming ever more changed and difficult as his mother, with whom he still lives, reunites with an old flame. Graham becomes increasingly jealous when the old flame takes an ever-growing hold on “Mam”, particularly when he proposes marriage whilst at the same time suggesting that Graham moves out. Not good….until Graham discovers that the old flame is hiding a secret.
Lady of Letters – played by Hazel Dove and directed by Euan Cowen
Irene Ruddock is a working class single lady living in West Yorkshire who is not afraid to speak, or rather write, her mind! Irene perceives social ills all around her and she writes letters to her MP, the police, the chemist in fact, anyone and everyone she can in order to remedy the problems. After “one letter too many” Irene’s life takes a sudden and dramatic turn….
Her Big Chance – played by Jo Chatters and directed by Ryan Ellershaw
Lesley is an aspiring actress, who, after a series of unpromising extra roles on television programmes , finds what she believes to be her big break as the adventurous Travis in a new film for the West German market. It is not clear to what extent Lesley understands “her big break”…..
