Well we certainly can’t be on stage presenting plays at the moment but that doesn’t mean to say we can’t keep in touch.
We have booked some dates in the diary and look to put some more in as soon as possible. Please take a look and get in touch if you have any queries, suggestions, ideas etc. we would love to hear from you.
Friday 12th February will be a virtual Poets and Pints Evening
Friday 12th March will be a Play Reading
Friday 16th April will be Quiz Night
Our fourth date which will admittedly be slightly less entertaining is Wednesday 10th March and this will be our AGM. There will be little business to transact but do please join us and say hello and let us know if there are other sorts of events or particular plays you would like to read. Do that anyway of course, you don’t have to wait until the AGM because we’d be delighted to hear from you. Full details of the AGM will be issued next week.
Poets and Pints, this will be a fun evening Woodford Players get-together and everybody is welcome to join in or just sit and watch. Sue M will be organising the “programme” for the evening so please submit your details directly to her on this email link by the 11th Feb so that she can set up a playing order. The idea is that you have a slot which will be approx. ten minutes maximum (you don’t have to do ten minutes, you can do one or two, whatever you like) and it’s your opportunity to “do a turn” as it were and share in the experience of some light-hearted and maybe some serious readings of poetry, monologues, sketches, funny verses, anecdotes, extracts from plays. Anything you like really.
You might want to get adventurous and team up with someone else over the wonders of the ether and present a little piece or how about belting out a well-known song from the musicals? Are you two housewives gossiping over the garden fence? Maybe you are two chaps pondering on the workings of the female mind? The possibilities are endless really and it doesn’t matter if technology gets in the way and it goes a little bit wrong because it all adds to the fun. If you need some inspiration, have a look at the works of Pam Ayres, Joyce Grenfell, Stanley Holloway, Noel Coward, William Shakespeare, Victoria Wood, Hillaire Belloc, Maya Angelou, Oscar Wilde, Christina Rossetti, Rob Wilton.
There’s no pressure to take part, just come along and listen we’d love to see you all again!
A link will be sent to you nearer the 12th February for you to log on.
Get those creative sparks fired up and get in touch!
The play reading – Tom and Carol are in charge of our première virtual play reading and will be in touch with details shortly. Everybody is welcome and we plan to do more of these as they provide a great opportunity for people within a society that don’t usually tread the boards as well as reading plays that for whatever reason, and there could be many, (cast size, technical difficulties, not suitable for our audiences), we wouldn’t normally choose to present. Again, if you would like to have a particular play read, get in touch, we would be delighted to hear from you.
The quiz on the 16th April – it’s a surprise! This one is down to Jude and she’s not quite decided yet whether to theme it or not, either way round it will be fun.
OK folks that’s it for now, get your thinking caps on about the Poets and Pints Evening and get in touch with Sue.
