award winning amateur theatre in cheshire

It is with much sadness that we have to report news of two deaths. Our erstwhile lighting man Trevor McKelvey has lost his father who has died after a long period of failing health.

We have also been told that John Ethell has died of Covid19.  John and his wife Jo were long time Players members, Jo was a fine actress and performed miracles with costumes. John was our stage manager and chief set constructor for many years.

We extend our sincere symathies to both Trevor and his family and to Jo and the family at this very difficult and devastating time.

Welcome to Woodford Players, we are an award winning amateur dramatic society and we perform all our plays at Woodford Community Centre on Chester Road, Woodford and have been doing so since 1950!

We look forward to seeing you at our productions and hope that you enjoy looking round this site. If you require any further information at all please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Not a lot!

However, we do have another edition of the “Gazette” on stage! Get yourself a cup of tea, park yourself on the settee and enjoy the read.

Jules Verne’s Around The World in 80 Days adapted by Laura Eason. A glorious, whirlwind romp of a play! Tickets will be on sale in September 2020

Have you always fancied treading the boards? Or maybe you are a techie type and would love to have a go with a lighting deck or sound board?

None of the above? Well how about the challenge of helping to build a stage set or choosing costumes and props for a play?

An amateur theatre group could be just the thing for you. It’s all great fun and we are friendly and never shy about putting the kettle on! If it takes your fancy – drop us an email.
